Riesgo geológico urbano : Fallamiento neotectónico en la ciudad de Villa Carlos Paz-Cordoba, Argentina

Autor: Szlafsztein, C.F.
Otros Autores: Massable, C.A ; Valencio, D.E.
Tema(s):
Resumen: In: Hermelín A., Michel, ed. Memorias. Medellín, Antioquia. Universidad EAFIT, jul. 1992. v.1. v.1. Presentado en: Simposio Latinoamericano de Riesgo Geológico Urbano, 2; Conferencia Colombiana de Geología Ambiental, 2; Pereira, 15-18 jul. 1992. During the last decades, due to an outslanding population growth, Villa Carlos Paz City (Córdoba province-Argentina)has become the 6th city of the province. This fact has caused a constant expansion of urban settlements toward the sorroundlings of the city, mainly toward the western side of Sierra Chica Hill. This work underlines the recent finding of an inverse fault of an inverse fault of modern age (Precambric basement over Pleistocene sediments)in the cementery of the city. This fault called "Carlos Paz fault", is a new evidence of the neotectonic activity in the Eastern Sierras Pampeanas, where several other faults have been studied along 200 m of the front hills. Possible urban geological riisks derived from the geological and seismological features of the region are descussed, emphazzising that this kind of active faulting should be taken into account in the planning of new settlemens (AU). / VILLA CARLOS PAZ / CORDOBA
