The relatively new national conscience with regards to the importance of study the natural hazards, has done that in Colombia in National Institutions as INGEOMINAS, the analysis of evolution, effects and mitigation of these events, has grown. In this atmosphere, the geotechnics give important tools to modeling and evaluating, helping about the understanding of this complex problem. In this paper some definitions about the geotechnics itselft and the natural hazards have done, and a general introduction is made about some analysis methods that this discipline of the earth sciences brings in this field, in subjects as mass movements, floods, seismic hazard and volcanic hazard. One of the goals of this work is to help in the strengthen of the solid coupling of the different branches of the earth sciences that make up the geotechnics (AU). |
